Fr. Graham Writes: 3rd March 2024
This weekend we welcome the World Apostolate of Fatima (England & Wales) to our parish again. They bring with them the National Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima from the shrine and relics of the child saints Jacinta and Francisco. It will be a wonderful day and, placed in the heart of Lent, it gives us the chance to reflect on our lives in the light of Mary's message in 1917 which is forever relevant to our time.
God sent Mary to the three children in Fatima so as to give a message to the world: repent and purify your hearts in the blood of Jesus - prayer, penance, rosary, confession and Mass. All for the conversion of sinners and salvation of souls.
Today we think we are saved through technology, science and selfimprovement. But it is only Jesus who saves us. This is our main task in life.
In today's Gospel Jesus cleanses the Temple from the taint of the world. The Temple was for sacrifice and worship of God. Our bodies, like Jesus', are temples with the presence of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. Jesus comes to cleanse our hearts and souls from the taint of the world, by His cross and our confession, that we might worship Him properly through the sacrifice of His body in the Mass. Jesus can "tell what (we) have within (us)" and He has come to make our hearts pure that we might see and become like God. Please listen to the message of Fatima. Jesus is still speaking through Mary.
With my prayer for you every day.
God bless you.
Fr Graham.
