ROSARY

The Holy Rosary

The Rosary is composed principally and in substance, of the prayer of Christ and the Angelic Salutation, that is the Our Father and the Hail Mary. These prayers have been used throughout the centuries, from the time of the apostles and disciples to our present time.

St Dominic - the year 1214

The Rosary in its present form, and the method of prayer used today, was received into the church in the year 1214. It was given to the church by St Dominic, who had received it from the Blessed Virgin as a means of converting the Albigensian's. and other sinners.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, and instructed by the Blessed Virgin (as well as his own experiences) St Dominic preached the Rosary for the rest of his life.

How to say the Rosary

Pope John Paul

“The Rosary is my favourite prayer. A marvellous prayer! Marvellous in its simplicity and its depth…
Against the background of the words ‘Hail Mary’ the principal events of the life of Jesus Christ pass before the eyes of the soul. They take shape in the complete series of the joyful, sorrowful and glorious mysteries, and they put us in living communion with Jesus through
– we might say – the heart of his Mother.
