Fr. Graham Writes 30th October 2022
“When many people are preparing for Halloween and Fireworks displays, we are preparing for All Saints day and the month of the Holy Souls. Of course, this is connected to Halloween (All Hallows Eve), for we pray for all souls to become saints.
Last weekend some of us went to venerate the relic of a saint - St Bernadette. It was beautiful and simple, as you would expect. It was as if Lourdes came to us. A little bit of heaven.
Heaven has indeed come to us when Mary said "Yes" and God became a human being - Jesus walked among us. Jesus never left anything to random chance, but always walked in the Spirit of the Father.
Zacchaeus knew the way Jesus would walk too and he made an effort to see Him. His lack of height is symbolic of his lack of faith. But Zacchaeus wasn't going to let that stop him. He was anxious to see Jesus and his little faith was enough for Jesus to change his life. The kingdom of God (heaven) came to him and his joyous generosity proved his salvation was real.
Such salvation is ours, let us show it to those we meet this week.
With my prayer for you all always.
God bless you.
Fr Graham”
