Fr. Graham Writes: 2nd June 2024
Can you remember your First Holy Communion? It is the most memorable day and full of anticipation and excitement. It is also one of the most important days of our life. Some of our young parishioners will receive Jesus in Holy Communion today. With them, let us consecrate ourselves to Jesus, to Him who is consecrated for us. He gives His life for us and we give our lives to Him. Perhaps, we have got used to receiving Jesus in Holy Communion? Let us never take Him for granted. Let us prepare ourselves each time and spend time thanking Him afterwards.
Today Jesus says to you and me: "Where is my dining room in which I can eat the Passover.... Make the preparations for us there." He wants us to prepare to receive Him so He can dwell within us, change us and work in us. He wants us to be His disciples.
Last week in Bishop Richard's Reflection we were challenged to "reflect on our discipleship". If we want to be better followers of Jesus in our every day life then we can start by reflecting on how we receive Jesus in Holy Communion. May He live in us every day and continually change us to be like Him. As Jesus is truly present to us, humanity and divinity, in Holy Communion, may He be truly present to everyone through us in whatever we do every day. "All praise and all thanksgiving be every moment thine".
With my prayer for you all before the Blessed Sacrament.
God bless you.
Fr Graham
