Fr. Graham Writes: 26th May 2024
It is easy to get lost in theological terms when trying to define the mystery of the Holy Trinity. It is equally tempting to minimise God by reducing Him to the limits of our intellectual capacity. The three Persons of the Holy Trinity, far from being remote, are ever present and personal to us. Jesus shows us the Father and the Holy Spirit fills all things. If we are to define God then we could not do better than the words of St John- "God is love".
We find our beginning and our end in Him. Our journey begins in Holy Baptism when we are immersed in the water in the name of the Holy Trinity. At our end, as we journey to God, we are commended to His merciful goodness in the words from the Pastoral Care of the Sick:
"Go forth, Christian soul, from this world in the name of God the almighty Father, who created you, in the name of Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, who suffered for you, in the name of the Holy Spirit, who was poured out upon you, go forth, faithful Christian."
God creates us out of love, He saves us through love and He gives us new life in love. To see Jesus is to see the Father. God the Holy Trinity is our home, not a theological term but a true and tangible reality. All honour and glory to God Father, Son and Holy Spirit. With my prayer for all of you.
God bless you.
Fr Graham
