Fr. Graham Writes: 1st October 2023
Imagine (from last Sunday's Gospel), that Jesus came to call you to work in His vineyard, even at the eleventh hour, and you agreed to go, but then didn't go. There may have been good reasons, distractions, forgetfulness, laziness or even resentment. But you didn't go. Maybe you forgot over time that you were even asked.
We have all been asked. We should ask ourselves every day, "Am I doing the Father's will?" Am I carrying through my promises of Baptism and Confirmation? Am I loyal to Jesus when I say "Amen" in the prayers of the Mass. Do I "proclaim the Gospel of the Lord" in my daily life? How can I respond to Jesus' invitation?
Today is Rosary Sunday and the month of October is dedicated to the prayer of the Holy Rosary. Perhaps we can ask the help and power of the prayers of Mary, our Guardian angel, Saint Therese and Saint Faustina to help us. Find, and keep with you, your rosary. Pray it every day. Ask a priest or deacon to bless it. The saints relied on it. May our "yes" mean something. May our "fiat" allow God to work in us. May our "Amen" be true. Don't rely on other people's opinions. Think better of it and believe in Him.
God bless you all.
Fr Graham
