Deacon Simon Writes: 24th September 2023
In our gospel reading we hear how God goes about recruiting workers. Well God’s representative on earth is the Church and the Church needs workers. In fact, our Parish needs workers and there is a great variety of work that needs to be done.
There are many who have already worked very hard for a long time but there is still lots that need to be done – we need people to read at Mass. We will need people to help with First Holy Communion, Confirmation and the RCIA sessions. We need altar servers and the SVP need volunteers, befrienders of the housebound, helpers with the food bank.
We also need people to come to our faith sharing and prayer groups, and also during exposition of the Blessed Sacrament we need people to watch and pray, the list goes on and on.
God calls everyone some earlier some later but that does not matter what is important is that we respond today to God’s call. And when we respond to God’s call to work, I promise that you will be welcomed, supported, trained, prayed for and helped by all those already involved.
So, this is where I get to do my impression of Sir Alan Sugar, “You’re Hired” What are you going to do?
In my prayers every day.
Blessings,
Deacon Simon
