Fr. Graham Writes: 9th July 2023
Today would normally be our parish feast of Our Lady Queen of Peace (9 July). As a parish, therefore, we have a particular responsibility to pray for and be instruments of peace. Our Lady, Queen of Peace, has a peace plan. She gave it to the three children in Fatima and particularly the (now) Venerable Sr Lucia. In this plan, we often focus on the Consecration of Russia to Our Lady's Immaculate Heart, but we forget the desire of Jesus and Mary for the First Saturday Communions of Reparation.
It is very simple, yet we ignore it.
(We try to keep the First Saturdays devotion in our parish and will seek to develop it further). Sadly, the world tries to broker peace politically and with power. It does not bring lasting peace and not the peace of Jesus either.
Jesus speaks to us of being simple, trusting and childlike for the things of the Kingdom of God to be revealed to us and understood. It is all very well being "learned and clever" if we are not wise and humble. We are ignorant if we do not consider spiritual things and only consider unspiritual ways of "developing". Let us come to Jesus every day in prayer that He may reveal these things to us.
With my prayer for you each day.
God bless you.
Fr Graham
