Fr. Graham Writes 3rd July 2022
“When I visit people in their homes I usually say quietly (under my breath) ‘Peace to this house’. Jesus asks us to. Jesus suggests that peace flows from the one who has peace to another. The Lord, says the prophet Isaiah, sends "flowing peace, like a river". This river is in spate, like a sudden flood. It is uncontrollable, unstoppable and comes unexpectedly.
The river that flows from the side of Jesus on the cross is the source of this peace. It gushed forth suddenly as His heart was pierced. It is unstoppable and continues to flow throughout the world from one Christian to another to quench the storms of violence.
God is the source of peace, and His peace is beyond our human understanding as it doesn't just bring the absence of war but also justice, healing from sickness, truth, forgiveness and reconciliation. Where this peace is, there is Jesus and where there is Jesus there is the Kingdom of God.
May our souls be flooded with the river of God's grace to calm the storms within us and to overflow to others. Without the peace of Jesus within us, we cannot be bearers of peace. Peace be with you! With my prayer for you all.
God bless you.
Fr Graham”
