Fr. Graham Writes: 29th September 2024
Last week (24 Sept - Our Lady of Walsingham) was my 10th anniversary as your parish priest.
It feels like a significant moment. I have been reflecting over these years with gratitude to God for the blessings but also with sorrow for my mistakes and our corporate offences to the Lord's Sacred Heart. Any examination of conscience is always about sorrow AND repentance and wanting to make a purpose of amendment. This should impact how we follow Christ now.
With Moses I want to say "If only the whole people of the Lord (in OLQP) were prophets", as the Lord has given His Spirit to us all. It would be a moment of joy to see everyone taking responsibility for their faith and wanting to grow in the likeness of Jesus: to cast out devils, to give drink to the thirsty and do anything to ensure we inherit the Kingdom of God (see today's Gospel). Then, I reflect and thank God for where this is already happening and pray for those who are yet to begin the journey. I
t comes at a time when our deanery is about to enter the next phase of the Diocesan Pastoral Plan. All the baptised share in the sacrificial, prophetic and royal ministry of Jesus. All of us.
The intentions of the Lord for us are good. He wants us to be with Him and receive "all the treasures of heaven". All of us and more yet to come. That is our plan for the future.
May God bless you.
With my prayer for you and for the Archangels to protect you.
Fr Graham
