Fr. Graham Writes 15th October 2022
We all need help. Moses needed to sit down with Aaron and Hur either side of him to keep his arms aloft in prayer less their army was defeated. Even Mary asks children (usually) to help her. Our Lady asked three shepherd children in Fatima to help with the conversion of sinners and to obtain peace. Mary also asked St Bernadette to visit her every day for two weeks in Lourdes.
It is not possible to do the will of God on our own or without God's grace.
St Bernadette's relics are visiting our diocese this coming week. We can ask for her help as we try to be faithful and "dedicated" to God as she was. Please try to visit one of the three places. St Bernadette was pleased that Mary asked her to help. After the little saint left Lourdes for a hidden life in Nevers, she said that, like a broom, Mary had used her and now placed her back behind the door.
In order for us to be "equipped and ready for any good work" we need perseverance. We need to persevere in prayer and to keep asking the Just Judge for all we need to keep faithful, grow in faith and to do His will.
How beautiful to ask God each day: "Let me help you Lord and change me to help you!" May St Bernadette and St Philip Howard pray for us and help us too.
With my prayer for you all always.
God bless you.
Fr Graham
