Fr. Graham Writes 13th November 2022
As we approach the end of the liturgical year the Mass readings draw our minds to the end times in preparation for Advent. We seem to be experiencing the "signs" that Jesus speaks of that indicate the "end times": international and civil wars, revolutions, plagues, earthquakes, famine and "fearful sights".
Perhaps these have always been with us?
But nevertheless, it focusses our attention to the purpose and foundation of life.
Ever since Jesus uttered these words we have been living in expectation of His return in glory when He will hand over the Kingdom to His and our Father. Our foundation and our purpose are Jesus and His Kingdom where He "rules with fairness".
If we have any other "root or stalk" it will not last.
Even the Temple in Jerusalem has not lasted (as Jesus predicted). It has made way for the new Temple, the body of Christ, where God is worshipped in spirit and in truth. Jesus tells us not to be frightened or deceived. Let us place all our hope in Him.
With my prayer for you all every day.
God bless you.
Fr Graham.
