Gift Aid Envelopes
The 2022/23 tax year is only round the corner and there will be some changes affecting all donors. Firstly, many thanks to those envelope donors who have switched to standing order. This enabled the Finance Committee to budget during the period when Masses were only online and little to no weekly envelope donations. For those still using weekly envelopes now or later please consider switching to standing order. Our Chair of Finance Kevin Davis now has to go out of town to bank cash money (as most of us know the banks have decamped to larger town centres) and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to bank coins. Also, for those parishioners who make offertory donations in cash, if you could change to Standing Order that would be very helpful. Standing Order forms are available from the Parish Office.
As you will have noted in the newsletter several months ago the Gift Aid schemes of St. Peters and Christ the King have been merged and the parish scheme is under the name “Our Lady Queen of Peace - Adur Valley”. This means that for 2022/23 you will have envelopes so named and these will be available for collection from Sunday 20th March. Please do not use them before 6th April. Your envelope number will have changed. You can continue to use St. Peters/Christ the King envelopes up until 5th April. Standing Order donors will also receive a box of envelopes for 2nd collections. There are 27 envelopes per box and if used regularly should last about 5 years. Please remember that the parish Gift Aid scheme only covers donations applicable to the parish/diocese e.g. flowers, retired priests, parish maintenance etc. 2nd collections such as Pax Christi, CAFOD, Peters Pence etc cannot be gift aided through the parish scheme so no need to put in an envelope.
Finally, a reminder that if you cease paying income tax please let me know. If you have any queries or wish to join the scheme, please contact the parish office, or joscelyn.cheesley@hotmail.co.uk
