Fr. Graham Writes: 9th April 2023
I was struck by the Opening Prayer of the Chrism Mass this week. Bishop Richard prayed that we are made "sharers in (Christ's) consecration" for the salvation of the world. Wow. A big ask. But one which has already been given to us. This is what the resurrection of Jesus does for us, and not only us but for everyone. We keep the memorial of Christ's death because it leads to the resurrection where He gives life to the world. We share in this mission by our consecration in baptism. A consecration which we renew at Easter by renewing our promises of baptism. In baptism we share in the consecration of Jesus to the Father. In so doing we are being consecrated to be like Christ in the world for the salvation of the world, which needs saving from itself. God has the answer in the cross and the empty tomb, "He is not here, for He has risen as He said He would. Come and see."
Our life should be an invitation to others to "come and see." Our parish should be an empty tomb where death and despair find faith and hope. Our prayers and everything we do can be an offering to the Father for Divine Mercy "upon us and upon the whole world." Our service of others a sharing in Divine Love. May God deepen this consecration in us all. Christus Vincit!
With my prayer for you for a blessed Easter and Divine Mercy novena.
God bless you.
Fr Graham
