Fr. Graham Writes: 26th November 2023
We have been building up to this week's Gospel for some weeks.
Jesus describes both the Particular and General Judgement of every soul. Our destination according to our faith and action - to recognise Jesus in all things and all people and to serve Him in them. We might not think of it very often (or at all), but it will happen and so we need to prepare.
Christ is King of all and His Kingdom has no end.
He "restore(s) all things" and sets us free from slavery, from everything that binds us. On the cross and in the tomb He broke the chains of sin and death. We are set free to love and serve Him. On Judgement Day He will reveal what we have done (and not done) and reveal the graces He poured over us. God never gives less than Himself. He "keeps all of His flock in view" no matter how far we may have been scattered because we "belong to Him".
As we approach the end of the Liturgical Year and the start of a new one at Advent, we focus our attention on eternity. Bishop Richard says today that we are being formed to "use the gifts we have all been given in the service of God and of our brothers and sisters." Every act of faith and every act of love has eternal rewards just as their neglect has eternal consequences.
May God bless you all and with my prayer on the feast of Christ the King.
Fr Graham
